1/2 a year already!

Well today is the big 6M. Our little babe is now 1/2 a year old. Craziness.
Here are some fun things that happened yesterday at the will rodgers state park.
The masons were having a cornerstone ceremony for one of the barns that was redone..
This is the former Grand Master of California doing the ceremony.

Hell even the Gov. came out for the event. Will Rodgers' grandchildren helped get the park back into shape with the help of the Gov.'s wife Maria.

There was all kinds of BBQ and Entertainment at the park.Including this guy who would lasso you for the small fee of a smile and a "howdy".

Dave and Aidan dressed very cute. Although doesn't Dave look like that bad guy on Indiana Jones..." I've got the girl now Dr. Jones." You know the guy...he burnt his hand getting the medallion out of the fireplace in that bar...where the girl drank those big guys under the table..it was right in the beginning...anyway. Our boy the sailor.....

March update

There are a few more pictures in the "6 months" folder. Be sure to check those out. We have some more video clips but have to find a different program to post them. We'll be sure to get that done as soon as possible.
There isn't too much to update on..
Aidan and I are still going to the local YMCA where they have a baby and me class. We spend 1/2 hour on the mats in the gym and play games, sing songs etc. and then we move into the pool where the kids get to practice kicking, paddleing and even quick dips underwater. Aidan is really getting the kicking part down. He practices in the bathtub all the time. He hasn't had any issues going under water either.
He has a doctor appointment on Friday (march 11). Just your typical visit. He is becoming more and more active. He is getting really good at rolling around...even at the worst possible times, like on the changing table.
Along with his milk he has been enjoying some rice cereal and sweet potatoes. (We have video of him eating the sweet potatoes!) We are going to get him into eating a couple more vegetables and fruits and by next month he'll be able to try out a few more foods.

water baby

Today Aidan and I went to the YMCA for our monday mommy and me class. We play with other moms/dads and babies in the gym on soft mats. We sing songs and dance around and stuff. Afterwards there is a swim class. We didn't go last week because we didn't have swimmers for Aidan. This week we went in the pool. Aidan did so well! He didn't cry or get fussy at all. We sang a few action songs in the pool to promote kicking and paddleing. At the end we all dunked the babies under water real quick. I was afraid to do it because I wasn't sure how Aidan would react and also I was afraid he would swallow water. But he didn't! He was just a little shocked. He was so tired after the classes though. He fell asleep in my arms as we walked to the car! We are going to go to the pool this weekend with David so that he can play with Aidan in the pool.

six weeks. . .

Last night he slept for 5 hours straight and then another 4 hours. This might not seem like a big deal to others but for mom(who seems to be more irrational as the days go on) and Dad (who is relying on Nightquyl to fall asleep lately) this is a wonderful change. Aidan is also smiling and making more cooing noises. He can also focus on people's faces and will follow you around the room. I bought him a cradle swing around the first of the month and he loves it. Sometimes it's the only thing that will calm him. I think he is going through a growth spurt...it seems like his eating is irratic and he sleeps a lot more. And boy is he ever cranky!

"Bug"

Diaper rash...red bottom..like a glow worm...cute as a....BUG! Mommy's new nickname for Aidan is born. I always liked little names like that. I love when the English call their children "poppit". It's so cute. I don't have the accent to pull that one off though.
Mom and Grandma went home yesterday. They really enjoyed their time here with Aidan. I think my mom was sad to leave. She couldn't get enough of him.
David is so great with him. Like for instance right now he is sitting with Aidan and saying his Masonic ritual stuff to him. Aidan looks like he's paying attention too. I guess it's never too early to introduce him to that kind of stuff especially since the lodge sent Aidan an application already..haha!
We have his doctor appointment tomorrow. What comes next? When is he going to have a bellybutton?
Little Bug. I'm so exhausted but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Mommie's first post...

1 Week Later...
It's been a whole week since little Aidan was born and it has been both challenging and rewarding! While our sleeping cycles are completely screwed up and we are beginning to get a little cranky, David and I are doing pretty good. I am having a little trouble getting Aidan to latch on correctly and as a result breastfeeding is becoming painful and difficult. Today we went to a store called The Pump Station, to figure out what our options were. They have breastfeeding consultants there that can help you properly feed your child as well as everything you can imagine for your newborn. We picked up a breast pump to help me with feeding our boy and a couple of other things. I've used the pump already and I have to say that it's very very helpful.

My mom and grandma are coming to see us tomorrow. I know they can't wait to see Aidan. They are going to stay with us for about 9 days. This is my grandma's 3rd great grandchild (all boys) and my mom's first grandchild. When we go up north for thanksgiving I want to get a generational photo done. It would consist of 5 generations! Hopefully my great grandma can hold out until then.

Well, it's almost time to feed Aidan. Until next time....
