Aidan was born on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 10:46pm. At birth, he was 7 lbs., 10 oz. and 19 1/2 inches. He's already earned three nicknames: Jellybean (when he was still in the womb), Bug (during the 1st month) and now Pogie (an anglicized spelling of the Tagalog word which essentially means "handsome"). Needless to say, his parents think he is just perfect and love him very much. We knew we wanted to have children before we got married; so, it was just a matter of when. As with all decisions these days, our stability and financial status would have a lot do with the timing. We decided to spend the first year or so of our marriage just saving money and re-visit the issue of "when" at the end of 2004. We decided to try at the end of 2004. Everyone had told us that it would take some time to get pregnant and that we shouldn't have any anxiety if it took a little while. Well, it didn't take us any time at all; we were pregnant within the first month without missing a beat. Of course, it's hard to know exactly when Aidan was conceived. It was either during the 2004 X-mas break and trip to Sacramento or (more likely) during our trip to the Philippines in January 2005. We found out that we were pregnant on January 22, 2005; the very next day after we had returned home from the Philippines. As for the name, Christie and I have been planning to have children for a long time and we had the name picked out over a year and a half ago. In fact, since we know that we want to have 2 kids, we've already picked names for our future children (with back-up names to boot). Aidan's full name is Aidan Russell Ferreria. His middle name is Christie's maiden name in keeping with Filipino tradition. One day (the morning of July 17, 2005 to be ridiculously specific), we came to realize that the definitions of Aidan's various names suggest that he'll be a very intense individual. Aidan means fiery; Russell means red head; and Ferreria means iron worker or blacksmith. So, his name essentially means, fiery red-headed blacksmith. What a mouth full.
